Some days you realize that your kiddos are stronger than you...today was one of those days! Luke had a DMSA renal scan today & I do believe it was much harder on Scott and I than him. He was such a trooper!! They first had to give him an IV, which sent all three of us into tears! Of course they missed his first vein and had to poke him a second time on the other hand.
Thank goodness I hit the 50% off Easter sale at Target on Monday and bought lots of Thomas' Trains and Handy Mandy Cars, which helped us make it through the long day. Once the IV was in place we returned to radiology to get the tracer injection. After the injection it was time for his first round of scans. The first round took around 30 mins. & did I mention you can't move during this entire time. Explain that to a 2 year old! Amazingly he did very good & wasn't freaked out about the machine having to be so close to him that he was trapped in. Scott & I drove trains on the machine, sang songs, read books & whatever else we could do to keep him happy. After the first round, he got a 15 min. break, so we headed down to the cafeteria, had a snack & returned for our second round. After another 30 mins. of no moving we were finally done...YEAH! I can truly say my child is strong!
After nap, it was up to Luke of what to do. Of course he wanted to go to Papa's garage, his favorite place! ( I know strange)
Here he is cutting the grass...
& don't forget about driving the motor home! They had a blast & then got chips & cheese (Salsa's) for dinner. You can't help, but spoil the child after the day he had!
Best news of all, just got the results from the scan and they were NORMAL!!! YEA!!!!

What a good boy!! He is a sweetheart and so glad the results came back with great news!! :)
ReplyDeleteYAY YAY YAY!!! I am thrilled that everything is OK! :) Luke is just a brave sweet little solider! :) So glad you are "blogging"!
ReplyDeleteThe next time he has to go for any needle sticking, ask for some emla cream 45 minutes ahead of time. It's a cream that will numb the area. You might want to ask for a prescription for it and that way you can apply it yourself before you have to go. It really works well as long as you know where they will do the sticking.
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT news! Glad the results are negative.
